In fact, one of the most important parts of creating a handmade candle happens after the vessel has been made.

When we remove a freshly cast vessel from the mold, it may look finished on the outside—but the process is far from over. As exciting as it is to finally hold the finished piece, rushing to pour wax can affect the quality and longevity of the candle.

The Importance of Curing

Every handmade vessel needs time to cure before moving on to the next step.

Waiting isn't always easy, especially after spending so much time designing, mixing, casting, and demolding each piece. But patience is an essential part of creating a candle we're proud to share.

Early in our testing, we learned this lesson firsthand. Pouring wax before a vessel was fully ready resulted in wax seeping through the material. It was disappointing, but it also reminded us that every stage of the process serves a purpose.

Sometimes the hardest part of candle making isn't creating the vessel—it's waiting.

Why We Seal Every Vessel

Although our vessels are made with Hydrostone, they're still a porous mineral-based material. Without the proper protection, the surface can absorb wax and fragrance oils, affecting both the appearance and performance of the finished candle.

That's why every vessel is carefully sealed before it's ever filled with wax.

Choosing a sealer wasn't a decision we took lightly. We wanted something that aligned with the values behind Aura Aligned Creations while also providing lasting protection for our handcrafted vessels.

After researching our options, we chose Earth Safe Finishes because it checks every box that mattered to us. It's non-toxic, contains no VOCs, is bio-based, vegan, PFAS-free, non-flammable, certified safe, free from heavy metals, never tested on animals, UV resistant, and proudly made in the USA.

Why We Wait Again

Even after sealing, our work isn't finished.

The sealer also needs time to fully cure before hot wax is introduced. While it's tempting to move straight to pouring, giving the sealer those extra few days allows it to properly set before the next stage begins.

It's one more reminder that quality can't be rushed.
